Dr. Steven Goldberg is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine and problems of the shoulder, elbow, and knee. Dr. Goldberg completed a fellowship in Shoulder Surgery and Sports Medicine at Columbia University in New York City. Founded by Dr. Charles Neer, who is known as the “father of modern shoulder surgery,” this is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious shoulder fellowship. Dr. Goldberg is skilled in the most advanced, minimally invasive treatments of orthopedic problems.
Dr. Goldberg grew up in New Jersey and attended the University of Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with high distinction in 1995. He then returned to his home state to attend Rutgers - New Jersey Medical School, where he finished in the top of his class with Alpha Omega Alpha medical society honors. Outside of studying, he was member and captain of the school’s championship Rugby Club.
Upon graduation, Dr. Goldberg completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles, which is internationally recognized for its excellence in the treatment of complex fractures and trauma. His senior research paper was awarded the Best Clinical Research Project of 2004.
After his residency, Dr. Goldberg furthered his training by completing his fellowship in Shoulder Surgery and Sports Medicine at Columbia University in New York. During this time, he published several articles, wrote chapters in surgical textbooks, and assisted in the care of the school’s varsity football and basketball teams.
Dr. Goldberg came to Naples in 2005 as a physician at Cleveland Clinic Florida. Throughout his practice experience, his research projects have been presented at numerous national meetings, and he has served as a faculty member at courses teaching current techniques to other orthopaedic surgeons. In 2008 and 2009, he published studies in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the most prestigious journal in the field of orthopedic surgery. He also served as team physician at the 2007 and 2008 ACE Group Classic Senior PGA golf tournament in Naples, where he treated the professional golfers at the tournament.
Outside of work, Dr. Goldberg enjoys golf, travel, fishing and spending time with his wife and three children.
